Title: groovymame with two TV/arcade monitors
Post by: haynor666 on October 08, 2016, 01:47:50 pm
I'm trying to set two Sony Trinitrons TVs using Windows 7x64 and Radeon 5450 or Radeon 4350. Somehow I'm getting different results only when I compare version 171 vs version 178 but also Radeon 4350 (legacy timings) vs Radeon 5450 (ADL timings).

With Radeon 4350 and version 171 everthing seems to be ok. Groovymame when I set numscreens 2 nicely sets picture from game 1943 on both TV using proper 256x240@60 but on second display image is shrinked and unevenscalling is noticable )probably switchres didn't work on second display in 171).
With Radeon 5450 and version 171 first display is using proper 256x240@60 but second is using desktop one - 640x480@60i.

Is this expected ? It seems strange that with Radeon 4350 both displays are ok but with 5450 does not.

With Radeon 4350 and version 178 everthing seems to be ok. Groovymame when I set numscreens 2 nicely sets picture from game 1943 on both TV using proper 256x240@60. This time both screens appears to be fine. On the other hand changing views in game Warrior Blade for both DISPLAY1 and DISPLAY2 does not change resolution like this was in 171.
Sadly using -numscreens 2 with game that changes resolutions during game like Bloody Roar 2 causes groovymame to crash.
With Radeon 5450 and version 178 first display is using proper 256x240@60 but second is using desktop one - 640x480@60i.

Sorry for double posting but I cannot attach more than 8 files. This time results from version 178.

I'll check this as soon as I can. However, I've noticed a problem in your HD 5450 setup: you've not created any custom mode for your second monitor. GM defaults to the desktop resolution because it can't find another one. Notice that for 5000+ cards you keep independent mode lists per output. This is another advantage as compared to legacy cards.

Ok, now I understand what's going on on second display. I'll investigate this soon.

Retested, indeed I didn't installed modes for second display for HD5450. I had to reinstall windows 7 from HD5450 with modified BIOS. Whole process was done from TV until I install CRT emudriver :)

This does not happen with HD5450.
