Title: Game pad config wiped when mame started without game pad connected

I don't usually have more than 2 players but occasionally up to 4 would be nice with the 2 USB N64 controllers we plug in when we want to play project64 games I figured hey why not use them as 3rd and 4th player mame controls.

Problem is that mame is not keeping the controller configuration if run without those 2 controllers plugged in.  How can I get mame to remember the game pad configuration setting for the next time mame is run with them plugged in. And not just for any one game but the default for all games.

The new version of mame has incorporated a fix for this although I have not tried it yet I understand its quite difficult to set up.

Failing that there are a few apps that will work.

Do a search on here and you will find out all about them.
