So I thought it would be fun as I have not seen one to start a what do you do thread.
Obviously Arcade gaming brings us all together on here but we all lead different lives and have different backgrounds.
So what do you do?
Are you a student, retired, full time gamer? Etc.
So to start off:
I work for a Japanese company that has branches all over the world and makes stuff for cars.
I am employed as a Electrically biased Facilities Engineer.
Basically what that means in queens english is I am an Electrician that works in a large factory and maintains the Services and associated equipment on site.
I.e. Water, Gas, Air, Electric etc to keep the place running.
When I aint working I like gaming (obviously!), Shooting, I am a film buff and then Walking my dogs and DIY round the house.
Simple life really lol
So over to you lot :p

I sell blunt wraps and gas. When I'm not doing that I'm at home watching TV and playing games. Occasionally building something, and constantly hitting refresh on the home page here.

I manage a software development team in London.
I say manage. I stop them from killing each other....

Official titles:
Senior Systems Administrator
Senior Systems Engineer
Director of Information Technology
Really, I'm the only full time IT guy for an international company that makes rigging and lifting hardware. And by IT I mean they make me do everything that is even remotely considered technology. VOIP, Security cameras, mobile phones, exchange admin, wall fishing cat5/5e/6, electronic door locks, AV equipment, etc. I'm my own boss, so that has its perks.
Been in IT for about 16 years now, Im a young 37.

See those green and orange straps and the wire rope? We made those. Literally those used to lift the Enterprise Space Shuttle.

I will be 25 next month and I make 300 a week. That's pretty young and poor.
-
"Clinical research manager"? I guess.
It's weird, stressful, and extremely detailed work. Does not pay well, do not reccomend.
Today I got to carry $300k in experimental devices in a tote bag. That was kind of fun.

I'm the phone man for a K-12 school system. 65 locations, 4000 phones.

Titch, I started teaching English and Reading Techniques, I currently now teach business technology courses. In between, I was the Campus Technology Director. All 21 years have been at the same school. But I will say I'm at a crossroads....

Up until this past June, titles like Senior Systems Administrator, Senior Computer Scientist, Senior Systems Engineer would cover it.
Right now I'm Senior Fix everything around the house until he finds a job guy.
For other fun I sing and perform in local community theater.

I shuffle papers in exchange for money.
So what do you do?
Is it a problem if the people I work with ask me this on a regular basis?

Nah you just reply "more than you!" LOL
Interesting array of professions on here so far :)
Yotsuya, I know that feeling, it usually means its time to move to pastures new.
I was at my last place for 12 years and it got to a point I had to go else I would totally stagnate.
The longer you stay somewhere though the harder it is to leave.
But its rather liberating when you do!!

Even though Senior Consultant would be applicable due to my nearly white hair, I have been in IT for ....35 years...really?
Seen it all, done it all. You name it, and I have been stupid enough to do it. :lol
The stories I wish I could tell.....

I am part owner of a convenience store distribution company. We sell garbage all over the country. High volume, low profit. I am also the IT guy. My vast experience playing Doom over a network in college qualified me for the IT position. ::)

Almost explains the fishnets under the jorts, right?
Oh no, hope all goes well!

Thanks. Biggest change for me so far is having to have a NEED for something before I buy it. What's up with that?
We'll catch karaoke next time I'm out there. Haven't written off 2017 yet.

I'll get a sympathy card in the mail soon. But man, that's so close to being able to take one of those retirement liquidations some of the companies are pushing.

This made me Laugh!!
Good times were had by many on that game.
Nout like fragging ya mate the other side of the room!
Magical times but I never imagined what it would lead the games industry to 20 years down the line!
-
A guy down the hall from me had a CD ROM drive. The 7th Guest was really fun with a group of people all trying to figure out the puzzles while inebriated.
-
I'm an aerospace engineer. I do systems modeling & analysis on small business jet engines and APU's for larger passenger aircraft. I cover test cell and flight testing as well.

Accountant for a local gov't in MN..mainly payroll. Zzzzz
I also play guitar in an AC/DC tribute band.

Mark, Where is the fun in playing the peacemaker? :p
Keeps me friendly with the HR department - you never know when you might need them
I do occasionally throw a grenade in when I'm feeling bored. Try getting a group of frontend devs, backend devs, dba's and business analysts to agree where business logic should reside in an application. People can shout for hours >:D

I'm a Senior Systems Engineer for Apple Inc.
Basically, I've spent the last 8 years working with Fortune 100 companies on their implementations. Mostly iOS lately and large scale.
Before that I spent about 12 years in public education. Started in schools and ended up working in the data center managing Apple, ESX and enterprise storage.
When I'm not on the road, I like to mess around with gaming machine of all types.
