Title: Any converter recommendations for getting a Atari Centipede RGB to VGA
Post by: richmaes on September 25, 2016, 10:19:49 am
I just acquire a arcade centipede and the monitor isn't working.  It is for the most part dark, but I see the occasional dull glow in the center of the screen.  I did a test where I clipped on to the composite output on the Centipede motherboard and hooked that to a TV, which actually worked, in a black and white fashion.   I have ordered a G07-CBO cap kit that I will try to see if that starts to get things back in shape.  However, I am also working a backup plan.  I'm trying to figure out how I can convert the RGB out to VGA signal.  I have seen lots of CGA tp VGA converters.  As far as I can tell, this not the right converter for me.  Can anyone recommend a decent solution for getting from that old Atari video signal to a newer VGA?

the GBS-8220 should be able to sort that out for you... it's basically designed to do exactly this.

you can get them for about 30 bucks on ebay.

Does this item support Midway Blitz/Blitz99/Blitz 2000 Gold?

The one I'm currently using does not (the screen slowly turns pink/white till reset) and I'm reluctant to purchase another converter. I'm told the Midway arcade Blitz pcb outputs at 53hz vs 60 hz (see youtube) and some of the converters from less reputable suppliers don't work correctly. I'm thinking that Ebay is awash with counterfeits and looking for a reputable dealer.
