Title: Printing vector images what doesn't work?
Post by: Scassidy24 on September 01, 2016, 12:27:29 pm
Hi all, so I'm working on my artwork in Inkscape and have the marquee ready to go saved as .svg and sent to my local printer.  They called me and asked for an .eps format.  I've been reading online (for better or worse) and now im worried about the Blur filter I used for shadowing my marquee text.  Will it get rasterized during the printing process and end up all pixelated. Should I just ditch the blur filter?

Any input on this would be great, I'll attach the .svg as it is when I get home tonight for anybody who wants to take a look.

Even if it does get rasterized for printing when changing the format - it should not effect the quality since it is just being done on the final size for printing thus it will still be the same at the pixel level ( The only time it would create a problem is if it is being resized after the format change and then printed )

As long as the effects that you are using are rendered at a high resolution, you are most likely fine using them.  I've never used Inkscape, but Illustrator has an options menu under "Effect / Document Raster Effects Settings" that you can choose the resolution that the raster effects are rendered at.  If they aren't rendered at a high enough resolution, your vector images will still look clean and crisp but the blur effects will be pixelated.
