Since U360 is still not available with built in rotary addon I'm looking for alternatives. What joysticks we have now on market that can be easily used with mame?

You might consider giving more context. For example I assume you mean Ikari style LS-32 type rotary stick as that is what I think of when I see rotary stick. However, you might very well have meant another type.

Happ are the only ones I'm aware of that are still available. I haven't used them, so can't comment on how they feel compared to standard Happs.

Happ makes both a "clicky" mechanical rotary (https://na.suzohapp.com/products/joysticks/50-5618-00) stick (12-position rotary switch like the LS-32 on Ikari Warriors) and a "smooth" optical rotary (https://na.suzohapp.com/products/joysticks/50-5619-00) stick.
Both are built on the Happ Super base and feel like the Super. (I use Supers and a mechanical rotary)

IIRC optical rotary sticks were only used on four games: Caliber .50, Exteminator, Touchdown Fever, and Touchdown Fever II.

While I haven't used the happ ones, I have built a couple DIY rotary joysticks over the years.
I like the ones with detents (switch version) much better than the optical version.
With the optical version, it's not as easy keep your guy locked into an angle.
The detents make it feel like you have much more control.
They don't even need to correspond to the player angle.
Some games had 12 positions, others had 8.
Just turning it until you feel the detent for the next position feels correct even if you are turning the joystick less or more than the original stick would have moved.
So what I'm trying to say is that I prefer the switch version over the optical disc version for rotary joystick games.
The optical version would work better if for spinner or steering wheel games.

I don't like switches in stick and it's not too suitable for shmups so after all I'm going to buy U360 upgrade.
Thanks for info guys.
