ZapCon The Game is a tongue-in-cheek homage to both a great event and to the classic games of our youth that are celebrated at the show.

The game uses standard MAME controls. UDLR to move, CRTL for action, 5 to coin up, and 1 to start. The game is single-player only. If you have a horizontal only MAME cab, it works nicely, although you can play it on a horizontal monitor as well. Minimum resolution is 800x600.
There are four basic levels, plus a bonus level if you complete all four tasks. Additionally, there was a ZapCon-only secret level that has been removed from this release, but it was basically a special point-racking bonus level - you had to find it on your own.

You should really make an effort to go. It is a really great convention. Large selection of games, good food, great people, and some BYOAC fun.
Yots is a superb host and he really goes out of his way to make everyone feel welcome and have a good time. A memorable event for sure.
(No excuses for people living abroad...If Ond from Australia could make it, then so can you!)

I guess 4.5-5.5 is more accurate for the pro. The LE listings I saw before aren't there now so I cant use citation, its very possible I'm mis-remembering (I'm old!).

LE is a different beast than Premium. MSRP on a premium is a touch above 7k, but can be had new from a distributor for around 6.6k-6.8k. But there are better deals out there.

What time does it usually start on day one? Also put me back on tire kicker status.Typically, that Friday before we meet up for dinner at a place called The Monastery, then we go to StarFighters arcade across the street for some pre-game gaming. The next morning, ZapCon opens at 9 for passholders, then 10 for the general public if I'm not mistaken. It ends the next day, Sunday, at around 6 p.m.

Since the theme of the official show logo this year is Donkey Kong, I used the font to do the BYOAC lettering on the front of the shirt. The back features the site's familiar Atomic logo, this time internally ringed with well-known arcade sprites.
In order to make it easier on my supplier, I'm only going to offer it in two colors this year. Arcade Geek Black, and Donkey Kong Light Blue. I'll put them up for pre-order probably around the beginning of March, so that gives him plenty of time to have them printed before the show. Sizes range from small to PBJ. He and I haven't talked about cost, but I don't anticipate them being any different. Should come in right around 10 bucks.

IT'S TIME!!! T-SHIRT TIME
To make this easier to track who wants what, I've created the following Google Form
2017 BYOAC/ARW ZapCon T-Shirt Interest Form (https://goo.gl/forms/AaAQLmlruUAgFoVV2)
Go through it and fill it out once for each shirt that you want to order. So if you and your wife are coming and you want two shirts, fill it out twice (you have the option to submit again on the confirmation page). Make sure you choose between the Official Black color or the alternate Carolina Blue.
If you notice, there is an option for Arcade Restoration Workshop shirts. Those are for the Local Phoenix collector site. Last year I loved the brotherhood between that group and BYOAC, and I wanted something that would tie our two groups together. They are also invited to our pregame festivities as well.
Note the following-
This does not commit you to buy anything. This just centralizes everything and makes it easier to get to my shirt guy when the time comes.
The official shirt is only open to ZapCon attendees who are BYOAC members, and their guests who are attending the show. "Been there, saw that, got the t-shirt" applies here.
There IS AN option for "The Wife Said No" backs, but there is no guarantee that I'll do them. It might depend on numbers.
T-shirts will be distributed initially at the Friday Night Monestary Meet-Up. If you can't go, I'll have them with me Saturday morning. Official shirts will not be shipped.
Shirts are still only be $10 each. I'll start collecting funds in 2 weeks or so, so we have plenty of time for printing.

I've been in talks with John Kowalski (creator of DK Remix) for quite some time now. We were kicking around ideas of his new upcoming release of DK Jr. Remix. So I asked, "Hey may, what are the chances we can have a working prototype for the show?". And he thought it was a fantastic idea. He's so excited about it that he has doubled-his efforts to make a working proto by the show's launch in April. We have a donor cab in the works to host the machine. Can't wait to play it!

Couple of friendly tweaks on the ZapCon shirt.
Event shirts should always have the location and date. That way you can advertise to strangers that you've been to Phoenix, and fellow nerds can know you're hardcore because you were there in 2017 before it was cool.

Couple of friendly tweaks on the ZapCon shirt.
Event shirts should always have the location and date. That way you can advertise to strangers that you've been to Phoenix, and fellow nerds can know you're hardcore because you were there in 2017 before it was cool.

("Last Credit, the series" is where you pick a favorite game of yours and play on 1 credit. We examine the physical game, controls and delve right into game play). It's your chance to make a BYOAC or KLOV appearance on the channel! It's one of my more fun episodes to shoot.

If Rampart is there I'd do a video if you are interested. I'm decent at the single player mode and it gets pretty strategic and difficult in later stages. I think it's a highly underrated game.

I think it's a highly underrated game.It's on the Zapcon list, so fingers crossed we'll do it! (Not sure if it's the trackball version or the joystick version though. Edit: Just checked my video footage from last year and it's the 3 player trackball version that was there).
Rampart is also one of my favorite games, which I'm pretty good at. Who knows? Maybe we'll do a single and two or three player co-op game while we're at it!
We can do the Last Credit videos after the group photo on Saturday.

1. Many of the badges are still the same, but the image or style has changed. If you earned it last year, you can earn it this year again.
2. Last year there was a fun blow up when the parent of somebody who had their picture secretly taken for the "Inspected by PBJ" badfe contacted me and complained about the photo of his daughter. I totally get it. So I will not award the "Inspected by PBJ" badge unless you have permission from the person to take their picture. It's not true PBJ Creeper Style, but again, I get it.
3. This year's fashion Choice are Jams - style shorts. Wear your brightly colored multi patterned 80s shorts for the group photo! I will also accept 80s style corduroy OP shorts, but please make sure your balls don't fall out of the sides like they used to back then.
4. I'm really excited about the Stunt Cycle challenge. A local collector is bringing two of them this year, so there will be plenty of opportunities for you to try to earn that achievement.
5. Remember, for the high score challenge, you can either put BYO as your initials for the number one slot on one game, or put those as your initials in a top 10 table on three different games to earn it.
6. One of the dudes coming from out of state, Alpha-Tron, is an extremely generous guy. He's been known to give people multi meters, actual game marquees, and other things just out of the goodness of his heart. This year, we might be providing them with some moon pies to hand out in honor of Bob Roberts. If he gives you something, whether it's an object or a moon pie, let me know so you can earn the badge. Also, offered him a drink or hook him up with something. He's really a super cool guy.
If you have any other questions, post them here, but in a nutshell, that's how it's going to go. It was great fun last year, looking forward to continuing this tradition with you guys.
