Title: Windows 10, controller ID and video issue
Post by: tony.silveira on August 02, 2016, 09:38:46 pm
So I got the itch again and have started working on the beast again.

I recently upgraded the PC inside and added an NVidia 1080 video card to drive my Vive headset.  way overkill for an arcade machine but this is also a gaming PC with an external 28" ultrawide screen for PC gaming.

so a few issues I am having...

win10 seems to change controller ID's on me or, I cant get a specific joystick to be controller 2, it always shows as joystick 3 in mame, no matter what order I plug it in.  is there any way to force win10 to have a stick ID always be the same?

two screen issue.  this new card only has dvi-d out for my arcade monitor.  I have a dvi-d to vga adapter and that seems to be working  the problem is, if I boot the machine with only the external ultrawide on, that becomes "display 1".  turning on the arcade screen, it becomes display 2.

if I boot with both screens on, the arcade glass becomes display 1 (which is what I want) and the ultrawide is display 2.

that switch can play havoc with MAME and MESS.  is there anything that I can do to 'force' the card to always have the dvi-d as display 1 and the DP as display 2, whether or not the screen(s) are on or off.

thanks all!
