I have recently bought a Megatouch Maxx Jade. And it has no security key and it works fine. Any ideas? The hard drive has "Jade Keyless" written on it.
-
I'm pretty sure this is a cracked copy of the software. I was just wondering if anyone else has ran across this.
-
Nup i haven't seen it,
would you mind sharing an image of the hard drive so we can try it on our non-megatouch touchscreen machine we have here running pub quiz games.
EDIT - NOPE. please do no such thing.
Pretty sure this is now abandon_ware since merit is out of business, but mods can correct me if im wrong.
Thanks

Since you asked, "abandon-ware" is still covered by applicable copyright law and Rule 5 (http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade_message_rules.html), just like ROMs.

Oh ok, thanks for clarification. Cheers
DB4L did you buy the system on ebay ?
-
Yes, I did buy the machine on EBAY. But the previous owner bought it like this also. When he bought it, the guy said "Works and I just put a new hard drive in it, and I lost the keys"

Yes, others have run across these keyless systems. And there are alot more versions floating around. You wont see too many for the obvious reasons. So dont go making your hdd public on this forum if you dont want to have it removed, and possibly banned, or in the worst case, sued by the greedy company merit/ami.
But feel free to post an image elsewhere, just be careful.

yes merit llc takes a very dim view of that kind of thing..

Yeah. I ain't going to make copies of the HDD. I was just curious if anyone else seen something like this. I just have it in my house for anyone to play for fun.

Play on, and keep on play'n , its just not worth posting it for the very few people that are interested. Sadly, the ship has sailed for this amusement game system. The company did a good job of preventing it for home use. Most people dont even know what it is. Especially the young kids that never had a chance to play them in bars before they went under.
