Title: Frosting Japanese pushbuttons for LED use?
Post by: Fydo on July 27, 2016, 03:08:04 am
Hello!

Long story short: I'm interested in building a fancy-pant arcade panel for my cabinet that has light-up LED buttons. I adore the look of the frosted white LED buttons that Ultimarc (ClassicRGB) and GGG (Electric Ice) sell, but I really like and prefer the feel of Japanese pushbuttons. I haven't been able to find any Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons in frosted white plastic, though Seimitsu does make the PS-14-KN pushbuttons in clear plastic.

After a bit of searching I discovered this product that will "frost" anything you spray it on: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Specialty-11-oz-Frosted-Glass-Spray-Paint-1903830/100195608 (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Specialty-11-oz-Frosted-Glass-Spray-Paint-1903830/100195608)
It's basically spray-on "frosted glass". I bet you can see where I'm going with this... :)

I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this sort of modification, or if this whole idea is terrible.  :laugh2:

Thanks in advance!

You can get self adhesive, frosted sheets, too. Take the button apart and stick it on top of the plunger.
