Title: Help with joystick
Post by: Haloman800 on July 21, 2016, 05:21:04 pm
I bought the X-Arcade DIY kit, I put in the joystick (The best I could figure out), when I move it around, it won't hit the microswitches. Here's a (poor) video of what I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt2DtngMNHg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt2DtngMNHg)

And here's a photo of all the pieces (where does the little metal one go??) http://i.imgur.com/fZ3MUBU.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/fZ3MUBU.jpg)  I've never put controls together myself, I appreciate the help.

THANK YOU! Is this correct? The metal nut isn't on all the way, but I don't know if it'll go any further

Looks correct for 8-way use but the clip does need to go on further -- you can press downward on the black piece under it and should be able to clip it into place fully. If the bottom piece is flipped over so that the smaller part is where the switches are it will be setup for 4-way use ( the smaller size of that piece will not let it activate both switches at once while the way you currently have it with the larger size by the switches will let it hit 2 at once.) So it looks correct if you wanted 8-way operation.

I'm having an issue with the wiring, the brown wire isn't long enough to reach to both sides, any ideas? http://i.imgur.com/kwWtYnc.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/kwWtYnc.jpg) Joy 1 D = down, Joy 1 U = up

That brown is just a ground wire, isn't it?  Just splice an extender into it.

Make sure you keep in mind which way you are flipping the CP when you wire it. Don't be like me and wire everything backwards because I wasn't paying attention.

.....It's meant to be used right-side up. Especially if upside-down, the shaft has to be all the way through and secured.
