Title: Raspberry Pi audio problem
Post by: SAVAGExMLGPRO on July 16, 2016, 11:24:43 pm
I have some speakers i'd like to plug into my Raspberry Pi. I'm using a hdmi to support video to the tv but it also carries the audio too. Can I use a usb soundcard with a audio jack and mic jack on it? Will it work exactly the way it would if there was a 3.5mm headphone jack?

Yeah, no problem.  I think you might have to twiddle the config.txt though.  It's been a while since I was in the guts, but that's how I did it.

what Pi are you using? I thought most had a jack already.

Here are some instructions for configuring it.

Onboard audio jack tends to be very noisy.  Going USB is far better.

The link i sent for the usb soundcard would work though? Would i still have to configure it if i used that?
