Title: I-PAC 2 detected as keyboard and not recognized by WinIpac
Post by: AES on July 14, 2016, 06:30:01 am
Hey there,

I have an I-PAC 2, connected to my PC via USB with a PS/2-USB cable shipped with the I-PAC when I bought it (i am figuring it is officially from the I-PAC, not some 3rd party thing). When I connect it to my PC, WinIpac does not recognize the board, simply saying "No board connected". However, the I-PAC is recognized as a keyboard by the OS, I can use my buttons to write in a text file.

The reason I want to use WinIpac is to configure my I-PAC to work as individual buttons and not as keyboard, which I need to do to have it work with RetroPie, so I am kind of in a dilemma and not sure what to do. Also, I do not think I have a PS/2 cable, like wtf.

Cheers
Lukas

Did you contact Ultimarc yet?  Ask Andy for help and he will be great to deal with.

Oh I did not know they provide support, the website did not make that impression to me. I posted to their "official" forum at MAMEWorld, or should I write them an E-Mail? (Anyways, thank you)

You can email Andy directly at andy@ultimarc.com - I can speak from personal experience that Andy is top-flight, A#1, first-right, steely-eyed missle man. He makes great products and stands behind them. I have sent him several emails that I considered stupid questions, but he is a true gentleman and helped me all along the way.

make sure you have the right software for the right board.  I'll echo that Andy is awesome, I had an issue with an ipac I bought like 8 years ago and he still helped me.  I recently bought  a new ipac2, and the software a for it is amazing!
