Title: HAPP SUPER JOYSTICK question.....
Post by: GroovyTuesdaY on January 17, 2004, 02:53:45 am
I was just looking on the happ controls web site and went and looked at their SUPERS and i noticed that the ones listed say they can be switched from a 4 way to an 8 way with the flip of an actuator.
I have some happ supers , so i immediatly went and looked to see if my SUPERS had this flip switch and they don't.  So,im wondering just WHEN did they start putting these on there??? I ordered mine about a year ago and mine sure don't have that option.
can anyone help me with this one? Im corn fused   ???

It's not a switch.  Basically, you remove the E-clip and flip the actuator (the little plastic piece on the shaft up inside the stick body) over and put it back together.

It's not a true mechanical restrictor, it's basically just smaller and won't hit the diagonals when you move the stick into the corners.

??? i'm lost lol.   Flip what where? lol.   I didn't see anything that would look like it would restrict my movement on mine, unless i am just not looking in the right place.       Could you be a little more specific? It might help me to see what part your talking about if you use the part number listed on the HAPPS website for the supers, where is diagrams the parts and part numbers inside the supers.
thanks, i apologise for the hassle. I'm just a little confused here. :)

on the bottom of the joystick pole is a black/gray C-shaped clip that holds a black hour glass piece on.  that black hour-0glass piece is called an actuator.  it's more thick on one side than the other.  if you flip it to the smaller side, it supoosedly can only hit 4 directions.  if you flip it to the fatter side it can hit 8 directions.  the actuator is the "switch"

AAHHHH.. Ok, i have changed that around before, but to tell you the truth, i think the only difference that was noticiable to me was that it was a little hard to do some moves in street fighter, but i really don't think , at least to me, that it seemed like kept me from using it in an 8 way mode.  I will do some testing tomorrow on it and see what happens.
