My pi2 with retro pie and emulation station recently started a weird thing.
After boot up and the emulation station loading screen, the screen goes white.
I read somewhere that ES will do that if you have more than a certain quantity of folders.
So using winscp, I went in and deleted the files from a couple of folders, cutting down to 10 folders and it worked.
Anyone else seen this problem?
ES ver 3.6

It's covered in the RetroPie wiki https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Themes
Your options:-
- Increase your GPU/CPU split
Remove some systems (which you did)
Switch your theme to any Carbon, Pixel, Eudora, Turtle-Pi, or Canela variant (as they have one static background and therefore don't crash when you have many systems)
