I'm trying to put together a MAME cab modeled after SF2:CE.
I've read the iL pushbuttons are the same as the HAPP pushbuttons that would have been on one of these cabs back in the day. Looks like these are only available through Paradise Arcade.
I've also read that the 20 gram option is far less "clicky" (but not silent) than the standard or the cherry switches. I see Paradise Arcade also has leaf switches, which would obviously have no click, but I've read that fighting games really need to use microswitches.
So I'm not sure what to do. Is there another option that I'm not aware of? I think I would ideally like microswtiches (or at least that feel) and no clicking. Is this possible? Would I need to buy a switch from somewhere else and install it on an iL button from Paradise Arcade? I just don't remember SF2 buttons clicking when you pressed them, but I could be completely wrong. It's been a long time since I've seen one.

light green and purple actuator cherry switches are pretty quiet but don't give much feedback.
the standard cherry reds have lots of feedback, but have a loud clack to them.
what you are asking for is pretty much impossible, you either get a tactile feedback bump (which ends up with a loud click internal to the switch) or a quiet switch with no decernable "bump" to it.
you are going to have to choose what is more important to you.
in all honesty, you are going to be far more intersted in playing the game than what the button sounds like... buy a button that fits how you would like to play. light actuation or a tactile feedback... and don't worry about the noise it makes.

Thanks for the info! I didn't realize there were variations to the cherry switches. I will look into that more.
Do you know how the original SF2 buttons were setup? You're probably right that I was just too busy playing the game to realize any clicking they may have had back then.

i think they where just 3 straight across in 2 rows...
punch L/M/H
Kick L/M/H
some people prefer H/M/L so you could use your index finger and thumb on the fierce punch and kick buttons opposed to the weaker jabs and short kicks.

Email me if you want some switches with the "bump" of a micro, and no click. I can make you some special Versa-Micro style switches, which I think you would like.
