Title: Making my Cabinet "Pop"!
Post by: Jimd0586 on April 18, 2016, 11:53:10 am
So I have a cabinet pretty well constructed. With little access to woodworking tools I bought a 3/4" kit from ebay. It was designed as a bartop setup.

Any suggestions what type of paint to use? It's quality plywood, but it still has its dings. The cross section obviously shows (I'm not sure what you actually call it). Is there a type of trim or something you all use to cover the edges of the plywood for a more polished, professional look? That way you aren't just looking at the cross section of plywood?

Also, how do you make a bezel for the screen?

Thanks.

Jim

You go, boy! Make that bad boy pop!

Use Quality Paint and primers and you should be fine.

Thanks.  :o  But I mean, you wouldn't do anything to cover the cross sections of plywood that show? For example:

T-molding to the rescue.

Normally you would use a "T" molding, or a stick-on, It can be painted too, but that will require some prep....Personally I would soak that with resin before you do anything give it a nice proper edge to start with, basically paint it on with a small artistists brush and force it into the wood (on the edge) with your thumb keeping it flat, not trying to get any build just soak the wood.

Considering you're limited to tools, measure the square area where you'd want the bezel to land and find a company to cut the piece out of glass or plexi or whatever you want.

Did you see this link in the pinned section ?  Not sure what type of screen you have or what you want it to look like so it's hard to answer your question.
