Title: Pixel Pitch on monitors?
Post by: rock145 on April 17, 2016, 02:44:01 pm
Hi, I going to buy a 19'' crt pc monitor on craigslist. Which is better for groovymame and PC_31_120 setup. Which will give me better image quality of these:
                                  a) Crt PC monitor with 0.27 mm pixel pitch
                                  B) Crt PC monitor with 0.25 mm pixel pitch
                                  c) Crt PC monitor with 0.22 mm pixel pitch

The smaller the pixel pitch the more pixels per inch of screen area so the higher the resolution -- so if all the monitors are the same dimension 19 inch the 0.22mm screen will have the most pixels thus the highest resolution - but chances are each of those monitors have slightly different measurements (ie. one might be 4:3 and another 5:4 format) so that they are considered 19 inch diagonal but are actually slightly different dimensions since there are a different number of pixels making up the display.

IF they are all the same dimensions (ie. all 4:3 format) the actual screen size of the 22mm screen will be smaller than the others but the dots making up that display will be smaller so better quality. Which is "Best" depends on how close you will be to the monitor and whether a slightly larger screen looks better at that distance than a slightly smaller screen with smaller pixels.

I have another question. Will a 19'' or 20' pvm have worse or better picture than an arcade monitor with groovymame?.
