Hi Everyone and sorry for my English.
After I Have used for many years MameUI, I decided to use GroovyMame for seeing with my eyes the difference with the others Mame Emulators. I have a ton of questions ;D but I'm going to start with few one.
This is my configuration:
Tv Sony trinitron 21 + cable Scart-Rgb
CPU: Core Duo E 6750
Ram: 2 GB
Power Supply: Corsair hw 620
Motherboard: Dfi Infinity P-965 S
Graphic Card : Ati Radeon 4350
All games that I want are emulated and I don't want add new games in future for my cabinet. The only thing which I want is to replace Mame Ui with Groovy Mame. I want to format my Pc and i have to decide what Os to install. In the past I used Windows Xp but now with groovy mame what are your advice? Windows Xp or Windows 7? Thank you
-
I currently recommend Windows 7, but the HD 4xxx series are not the most suitable cards for this OS. Don't get me wrong, your 4350 will work fine with 7. But HD 5xxx and 6xxx cards are easier to setup in 7 and also solve some issues the 4xxx cards still suffer. My advice to you is to do a bit of research in this subforum as you'll find all the details explained.

Thank you Calamity. If I Would make an upgrade for Ati HD series 6xxx for to use also demul, what model of this serie do you advise? (however, the most important thing is to have groovy mame that works perfect). Thank you

I have a HD 6450 that works quite fine. It's a good choice if you don't want to spend too much.

Thank you Calamity. This is my last question for now ;D.I made a research in subforum and I found a topic which say that the resolution interlaced with ati radeon 5xxx or 6xxx are blurry than ati pre 5xxx. Is it true?

It is true. But it's not a problem for me and many others. Other users like Haynor666 hate it :)

I have an Asus 5450 1GB card - is there an advantage of using a better card? What is the best card you would recommend for Groovy mame?

Hi Calamity, I order a new Ati Radeon HD 6450 but in the meanwhile I’d like to try the guide about ati Radeon 4350 hd ( I have one ) for take confidence with groovymame. I have the first problem and I need your help. I cannot transfer my image from monitor to Tv Sony Trinitron. This is all my step that I follow for to be more clear.
1) I formatted my pc and I installed Windows 7 64 bit SP1
2) I installed drivers about chipset and Realtek Audio (I Have an integrated sound card) and all programs that I need.
3) I downloaded groovymame Asio 0.171 and Official Mame 0.171 64 bit and I created a directory for MAME in the target computer, C:\GROOVYMAME, and extract into it the content of Official MAME's compressed file. The file with the name mame64.exe was deleted.
4)I Extracted the content of Groovy MAME's compressed file( Mame 64.exe, bassasio.dll, batool64) into the same directory.
5) With the command prompt with administrative privilegies I gave this command: C:\GROOVYMAME\mame64.exe -cc and I created the mame.ini that I moved in the Mame Folder.
6) I plugged my monitor Philips brilliance to the DVI-I port of the HD 4350, by means of DVI-VGA adapter, and I checked that Windows has detected my monitor from EDID
7) I opened the folder with the CRT Emudriver files, and I launched the Setup and I clicked on Install driver, enabled test signing and then I restarted
8) After restart I was in Test mode, I launched Setup of CRT Emu Driver again and I clicked on Install driver. Now the installer asks me to add "Calamity" as a trusted publisher. I clicked ok. Now my card is shown as Ati Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series, and the driver name is CRT Emudriver (as the guide). Windows has found a second monitor in my system.
9) I launched VMmaker and I had this screen (I don’t know if is correct, but I have device not found)
[img=http://img178.imagevenue.com/loc429/th_367522692_Nuovaimmaginebitmap2_122_429lo.jpeg] (http://img178.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=367522692_Nuovaimmaginebitmap2_122_429lo.jpeg)
10) I clicked on the Edit Settings icon. In the Monitor settings tab, I checked that the "Generic 15kHz" preset is selected. Then I go to the User modes tab. I make sure that default "user_modes.ini" file was selected.
11)In the MAME tab, I browsed to my GroovyMAME folder, and I checked "Export settings to GroovyMAME" In the Video card tab, I checked that "Extend desktop automatically on display restart" was selected.
When I come back on the main dialog, I clicked on Generate modes and I clicked on Install modes. ( my screen is the same ad the guide)
I checked that my resolution on monitor 2 was 640x480
Here this is my problem:
Time to plug the VGA cable that goes to the UMSA in the VGA port (black cable).
I don’t have a UMSA but I plugged my scart/vga cable from tv to vga port and I had to have the image also on my tv but I don’t have nothing. I hope to be clear. Thank you

I found the problem. The scart-vga cable didn't work. I changed it and now everything is ok. Thank you
