OK I have been out of this for a little while but button inserts were popular just as translucent buttons started to catch on, yea I remember it. Heck led buttons are almost a must now. :blah:
Regardless, I ordered 24 green translucent led buttons from Ultimarc with the hopes of putting button inserts in them but came up short with what I was hoping to do.
I wanted to install black inserts with the letters or graphic cut out or clear enough to let light through. basicaly a ring of glowing green and lit up graphic in the middle.
I see vendors selling the opposite but nothing that will work for me. I need xbox and playstation ones as well. Should I have something printed at Kinko's on transparency plastic, which will rub off eventualy? Or does anyone know where to look, this seem like a simple thing but I guess its not that popular. :dunno
Oh, anyone know where the spell check button is, I know I spelled some stuff worng :banghead:

You can print your own inserts on Avery 8665 or 18665 Clear Full Sheet Labels.
Put them on the diffuser, under the cap.
If you use a tiny bit of gel superglue to keep the diffuser from rotating -- please observe the obligatory "CSI warning" here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,134501.0.html).

Thanks PL1, thats some good info.
I that avery 8665 just over head projector stuff I can find at Kinko's right? :dunno
I have seen some cool images when I googled this topic. I want white on black instead of black on white, I think the print shop can do this very simple.

No! Definitely not the same thing.
I previously used overhead transparency (OHT) media for button inserts here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,122856.msg1304926.html#msg1304926), but the Avery 8665 labels are absolutely better for three reasons:
1. The Avery labels already have adhesive -- OHT media will turn inside the button unless you glue it down.
2. The Avery labels are thinner and much easier to cut.
3. The evenly-applied adhesive and thinner/cleaner edges of the labels make it easier to avoid shadows and optical distortions.
The extra sturdiness of the OHT media is great for an 8.5" x 11" projector slide, but wasted on a tiny button insert.

It's because those buttons really aren't that popular. Gimme concaves all day.

I hear ya on the concave buttons, but this is my 6th build and I used happs competitions and standard happs concave buttons on all of them.
This time i went with custom jlf's from paradise arcade shop and useing convex buttons from ultimarc. I just wanted something different. If they toatally suck I will switch everything. :P
