Anyone have any tips on the best place for ordering in coin door parts to be shipped into Canada? I'm looking specifically for two Happ items:
"Plastic Entry Bezel" - 42-0231-00D
"Reject Button Assembly - Amber" 42-0517-07
The places I've found that carry them want ridiculous shipping charges for items that would fit in a padded envelope and don't even weigh half a pound. I've sent off a PM to Divemaster, as I think he deals, or used to at least, in Happ parts, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet.

Did you tried Playdium?

For Happ parts I almost always (actually, can't think of a time when I didn't) go to PlaydiumStore.com. Added benefit for me is that they are local.
You can also email the folks at retroactivearcade.ca, multicade.ca, etc.
Having said that, I don't think you can go wrong with DM and, IIRC, he is reasonable to the point of being generous on shipping.

Playdium was one of the first places I checked, but they were one of the most expensive as far as shipping costs go, despite being in Canada.
I'll try those other links though and see what I can find. Although I still want to throw my business Divemasters way if I can. Hint hint, paging Mister Divemasters, please read your PM's.

Rather than Jennifers usual WTF, speech help me understand this... A bezel, and a button, Ok So far so good, cost what? all of twelve bucks or so? I follow.

If you mean WTF about the shipping costs, it seems most stores supplying these parts just offer flat shipping fees for international shipments. Great if you're buying a ton of stuff, lousy if you're just trying to buy a few small items and they want $30+ to ship it up here. Even Playdium was asking $20 to ship the parts.
It looks like Marco Specialties will ship them up here for around $9, which is the best I've found. So I'll give Divemaster a few more days to respond, then otherwise I'll probably order from Marco.

hi, you can try this site: http://www.happmart.com/ProModel.aspx?bid=23. (http://www.happmart.com/ProModel.aspx?bid=23.)

Jamesyan -- perhaps add something to your signature that lets people know that you are connected to happmart.com. Your intentions may be good, but it looks like you are recommending happmart as an unconnected third party, which may rub people the wrong way. ;)

Don't forget that you'll get an extra bill for Duty on items you order from USA when they arrive. The courier will collect that. If your trying to save up to $40 CDN. On your order you might as well get it in Canada. Playdium store had my coin door delivered to my home in less than 3 days to boot!

Sometimes (and it is usually HST/GST rather than duty, so is a wash with buying in-country).
Definitely more common for larger parts ordered new from big suppliers. Less so for a simple envelope of small parts. Over the years, I would guess that I've been hit maybe 5-10% of the time on international orders (but I mostly buy used parts).
Brokerage fees, OTOH, can be a problem. UPS used to be a nightmare and an automatic $30 per shipment.

I buy a lot of boxes, and have actively avoided Canada my whole life because of threads like this....But last month decided to try it, and was quite surprised. He was not only friendly, but spoke/wrote English, refunded my overpayment to e/pay on shipping promptly and ethically, (e/pays fault not his) and had quality product. I was and still am quite pleased with my first transaction ever from over the border and will do it again... So if you need coin door parts just write the check friend. That would be my advice.
