Hi everyone,
I'm really new to arcade building. I have never built anything like this before and would love to try it. I bought a raspberry pi recently and was looking at getting some joysticks and buttons working on it. How ever I was just wondering where the best place to purchase the joystick and buttons are?
If anyone can give some recommendations that would be great thank you!!

hi, you can try this: http://www.happmart.com/ProModel.aspx?bid=23. (http://www.happmart.com/ProModel.aspx?bid=23.) it's a chinese-based arcade company.

Welcome to the hobby.
There are several vendors who post here, sell quality products, and have a history of reliable customer service. I recommend both www.groovygamegear.com (http://www.groovygamegear.com) and www.ultimarc.com (http://www.ultimarc.com). Paradise Arcades also gets a lot of business from BYOAC folk, but I haven't dealt with them myself.
I don't know anything about James (post above) or his store, other than he is making an effort at getting his website URL in a few threads around here.
And you can always buy cheap parts on eBay or Amazon.

Those are all good places. I'd also recommend checking FocusAttack (https://www.focusattack.com/ (https://www.focusattack.com/)) depending on your needs.

Don't forget Divemaster's site. ArcadeEmulator.net
He sells Ultimarc stuff but is in the US, so no international shipping.

Well, he said BEST site, not A site....

Most all the bases have been covered here but I'll add:
Twisted Quarter for things like coin doors and mounts and other Happ stuff. (ordering from Happ is slow and they tack on extra fees)
MikesArcade.com for Nintendo stuff

Thank you all for the suggestions these are all places I will check out. Someone mentioned about location and my needs. If it helps here it is.
I bough a Pi 2 B model a year ago and was screw around with trying to find something fun to do with it. When I cam across a post about someone making an arcade system with it. thought I will give it a try as it will make a great gift for my brother (when ever I can finish it), So I am looking to build just arcade system that will just load all kinds of games/emulator on it, NES, SNES, ATARI, GB, GBA, you get the point.
I'm in Canada eh!!
lol
So that's basically what I'm looking to do. So if any has any information/links for helping me with this project that be great.
Thanks Everyone!

If you're buying Japanese parts there is no better place than FA.
