So I hooked up a coin meak in my Jamma Pandoras box 2 build an added a button on the side to add credits with out having to use a coin. It all was working at first but stopped shortly there after, now if the meck is attaches the button I added to bypass stops working. Ones the Meak is detached the button works again. To be clear the Meak does work with or with out the button attached.
If any one has any idea I'm all ears.
Here is the build: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,149284.0.html (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,149284.0.html)

If the button and the mech are wired in parallel, it should work fine.
I would check all the wiring thoroughly and make sure you haven't got a grounding problem.
Is it possible that you have inadvertently wired to the NC connection on the coin mech?
I'd have to look at mine to verify, but I seem to remember that my coin mech switches have the NO and NC terminals the opposite way round to a regular microswitch.
This could possibly cause the symptoms you describe - the switch is normally closed, but dropping in a coin would open it briefly and then close it again, adding a credit.
The button would do nothing, because it is normally open.
When you remove the mech from the circuit, the button would then function normally.

Thanks for the suggestion.
That may be it. It's a Chines vending mech not an arcade mech I'll check the switch to see if it's seat for normally open or close. I'll look tonight when I get home from work.
The only thing is at first they were both working, then just the mech, and when I disconnected the mech the bypass button came back to life. Perhaps I inadvertently flipped the switch.

A complete random note from my experience. I bought a new coin door from eBay a long time ago. Brand new from some company. Couldn't get it to register coins. Finally for some reason I switched the terminal on the micro switch and it worked. I honestly don't remember why.. If the micro switch type just had nc and no reversed or what. But I just remember either accidentally or just out of frustration switching them and it worked. Indeed check if the micro switches are hooked up to nc

The only reason I even noticed that mine were reversed was because the common and the NO terminals had solder remnants on them.
If it hadn't been for that, I probably would have wired them wrong and wasted an hour troubleshooting them :D
Locke141, you said that the mech is out of a vending machine; is it just a simple mech with a switch, or is it an electronic mech that can accept several types of coin?

Did you get this fixed?
I was working on my coin door last night, and I can confirm that my coin door switches do indeed have the NO and NC terminals reversed compared to a standard microswitch.
-
Not yet. I need to open it back up and take a look. I'll get to it tomorrow and post back here with the out come.
Thanks for the the help.

Thanks guys,
It was indead set to normally closed. Now that that's out of the way I can call this cad comet.
I'll up date the build thread when I get the opertunify to take some nice pics.

Glad you got it fixed.
It's a difficult problem to diagnose, because it still allows the coin mech to appear to be working correctly.
It doesn't help that the terminals are reversed compared to a standard microswitch (at least mine are).
