I was just wondering what the benefits of updating to 2.0 on a pre hd5000 card?

You'll be able to use either VGA or DVI-I, while with older versions you must use DVI-I all the time. The new tools are easier to use too.
Besides, although not my intention at all, future versions of GM might start failing with 1.2b drivers at some point since my testing rigs are all now based on 2.0.

You also get emulated EDID with 2.0, so no need for the old resistor hack for arcade monitor detection in win7. This was the real deal maker for me deciding to upgrade to 2.0. :)

Yeah, but EDID emulation is only for HD 5000+ cards. For legacy cards 2.0 has forced monitor detection, not as good as EDID emulation but it does the job once you figure out the setup process.
