Hey guys besides that i love gaming and arcades I'm kind of a noob when it comes to connecting electronics, so I wanna make an arcade controller with zero delay beacause I live in Greece and I'm building it with money from my pigibank. So i have a generall question, will this controller work with Raspbery pi 2 using retropie? Zero delay says that's PC/PS3 compatible but I'm afraid of the voltage that the controller will need so it can work, because the Pi is using 5V to power itself. Also will retropie recognise this as a keyboard or like a gamepad, so I will have the same problems with a normal gamepad ? ??? ???

I have also ordered a RPi2 and a ZD. I'm waiting for delivery on both items so when I get them, I will post the results (θα σου πώ ;D ).

I have a Pi3 hooked up to a ZD with no issues what so ever, the Pi recognises the ZD as a gamepad and just takes a second to configure.

:notworthy: Oh thnx m8 i was really worried about that. Also, if you configure it once do you have to configure every time you open it ?

Nope just the once.

And if you run out of buttons, just connect another ZD board. I have two connected to one of my cabs. The Emulation Station front end of RetroPie only uses buttons from one ZD board - so you cannot mix them. I use one ZD board for player 1 and admin controls, the second ZD board for player 2. I'm running a RP2 with a year old RetroPie image.

It's also worth bearing in mind that you can connect the joysticks and buttons directly to the RPi's GPIO pins and potentially avoid having to use a Zero Delay altogether.

I'm using ZD with RPi3 and it works without problems. Only problem with newest RetroPie is that axis Y is reported on axis 3 (not 1) - that cause problems in non LibRetro games where you can't configure axis for Y - fix is to simply hexedit (or recompile) HID driver for ZD - I can provide you with details if needed.

is it just wiring it up or you gotta do some other hax and typing uber secret commands and codes ???

The joystick is really nice but the buttons are small, not standard arcade sized buttons.

Are they? Well the one they send me are the size of my thumb nail! I'd say they are 15 mm in diameter...really small like if they were made to fit a mini arcade cab.

They reckon there are 2 x 24mm and 8 x 30mm. It's funny because in the photo they show an ion icade controller which is what this pack was obviously aimed at. I can only assume they were putting in an extra 2 buttons for debugging the system/ entering the setup features etc. I wish I'd seen this before I started my project, as it's a good price and has everything you need. I already had an ultimarc ipac2 lying around from a previous build so I used that instead of the ZD.
Did they not send you any 30mm buttons then?

Everything were as described except for the buttons. The good part is that I mostly needed the encoder and the joystick so, not much harm done! :)

I picked up two RPi3 boards with 32GB SD cards and cases for $80 CDN (used off a local online resell site).
I plan on using one for a NintendoPI project, the other will be used in my Punch-Out bartop.
However I'm unsure if I should use my Zero Delay Encoder, KADE, or Ipac, all of which I have lying around.
I'm heavily leaning towards the ZDE as I think I could sell the KADE and Ipac to be honest.
And realistically I don't think Id use the ZDE elsewhere.
I thought I read prior that the ZDE had some lag ? Has anyone found this to be correct ?
Is the initial set up rather easy ? I'm very much a novice at this stuff.
Any info, advice, tips and tricks would be welcome.
