Title: Monitor takes a long time to warm up
Post by: entomophile on March 23, 2016, 10:33:25 pm
I have an Eswat arcade with a Wells-Gardner 19K4616 monitor.  The monitor takes a very long time to warm up.  When 1st powered on the image is dark and blurry.  After about an hour the picture is perfect.  Any ideas why?  I was thinking of a cap kit but I don't want to go through the trouble if it's something else.

A cap kit could help, but such a simphtom calls for a CRT on it's last legs. You could rejuvenate it with a tube rejuvenetor, but it's likely that you will definitely kill the CRT in the process.

K4600's are easy to cap. Cap it and find out.  Just make sure you de-solder the two leads to the width coil before you yank it out of the frame.  Or find a friend with tube rejuventor and test it.  Make sure your kit includes a replacement C621 HV filter cap.  Mouser part # is 5984-940C16P1K-F
