Title: Pc plugged into arcade monitor cannot get alligned horizontally
Post by: Antwan2000arp on March 23, 2016, 01:10:45 am
I recently purchased a virtua fighter three cabinet from a local arcade/amusement park. I have a PC running windows seven inside it and have the monitor wired to a VGA cable. I have the picture aligned with the sides and top and bottom of the screen but now image  is split into two. What would be the left side of the screen is pushed over to the right and the right side of the screen is on the left with a black line between the two. One of the adjustments on the monitor allows you to shift this but the shift is not great enough to correct the picture. Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated.

what monitor model/make is it?
i think vf3 was a naomi game therefore max res of the screen would be 640x480
win 7 boots at 800 x 600 and can damage some chassis, all depends on the model of monitor though

I had this problem too. I fixed it with a replacement remote board from arcadecup.com for $18.

On the chassis the model seems to be KTM-F. Now all of the sudden when I turned it on the picture was all out of wack. Sort of wavy and you couldnt really make out what was on the screen. I know that the computer is not outputting 15 kHz. Could that be part of the problem? Also is there anyway that I can test to see if the problem is the external controller with all the potentiometers. I don't really want to have to pay for one if its not needed. Lastly I am outputting at a very small resolution it's about half of 800x600. Thanks so much for the responses

Yeah Cut a VGA cable in half and used a multimeter to track the Aires to the pins so I would know which wires to use. Then J just wire nutted them together. Ghetto but it works

well its not working that well as you either have a video ground or sync problem as well as resolution issue

So it could be a loose sync on the ground cable?  What would the best resolution to pick be, also should I change the mode of the video so that the refresh rate and the color type changes?  Next,  I recently purchased a VGA to arcade adapter board,  could that fix some of my issues?

If you're not outputting 15khz it's not going to work.  Period.  In fact, this looks like what you would get if the refresh rate is out of wrong.  Your adapter board is needed in this scenario to convert from your PC -> VGA -> CGA.  Or you need to find a video card for your PC that can be tweaked to output the proper resolution.

Running your monitor like you have it now has the potential to damage it.

Ok. Then I'll just wait until my converter comes in the mail and hopefully that will resolve my issues!

Wasn't Virtua Fighter a medium resolution game? It might need a 25khz (EGA) signal.

So I got the converter and it fixes the wavy messed up picture but it still is split up weird. Where the picture is two pieces.

there is a 25k version of ktm-f chassis, did you say you had vf3 running on this cab originally?-if so then that is a 25k chassis
you would need to set the res at 25k on the pc graphic properties

Yes it was originally running virtua fighter 3. So do you think running it at 25 kHz would fix my issues?
