Title: HDD partitioning woes

Hi guys,
 
I am having a problem partitioning a drive the way I need it to be.
 
I have a 4tb portable drive and need to have two 2tb partitions, the first being Fat32 (32kb clusters) and the second being NTFS.  I know this is possible since I have a 3tb drive partitioned this way, except the first is only 1tb.
 
I did notice the 3tb drive is MBR whereas the new drive is GPT.  I converted it over to MBR and was able to create the first 2tb Fat32 partition (1.9tb really) but when I try and create the second, it is only letting me do 180gb, leaving the rest of the drive “unallocated”.  FYI, I am using EaseUS to try to do this split, the same program I used to make the 3tb drive.

Have You tried parted magic? It can clean up whole disk and make new partitions. Everything under linux booted from USB or CD.

MBR only supports up to 2tb partition size, so there will be 1tb left in your disk but it cannot be read or displayed. However, GPT can break the 2tb limit of MBR, and is capable of very large size. In your  situation, GPT is the only way to make full use of your 4tb disk and allow you to have two 2tb partiitons. So , "covert mbr to gpt" is the solution to your problem, and I recommend you a freeware called AOMEI Partiiton Assitant in order to achieve the job.

Not exactly, there are some tricks to see more than 2 Gb with MBR. Seagate external hdds have such partitions.
