Title: Need advice on pacman Pcb
Post by: abispac on March 17, 2016, 09:56:07 pm
Hey guys, thankks for reading
All of my life i  have been facinated with pacman, and always wanted to make a dedicated pacman cab.Now i always wanted to build a multipac with the http://arcade.souzaonline.com/ (http://arcade.souzaonline.com/) kit, now maybe i would just left it alone and keep it original, and there are a couple of cheap pacman boards, found one for 40 dlls, and it says its untested so i asume its not working, so i guess my cuestion is, how hard its to repair this boards? should i buy a working board for 150 dlls instead and save me some time, or do pacman boards can be repaired on the cheap? thanks for any tips.

Just a little advice, take it for what it's worth.  Reading your post was painful.  At least make some attempt at things like spelling, punctuation, capitalization.

As far as boards go, there are so many things that can make a board not work it's impossible to say how difficult a fix it would be.  If $40 is acceptable to you for an experiment, then go for it.  But keep in mind that it is an experiment and may not EVER work.  Is $40 worth the learning experience?

Something else to keep in mind, "Untested" can mean anything from "I don't know if it works or not" all the way to "pulled from a cabinet that was set on fire, run over by a truck, and dropped out a window".  So be careful.  :)

Unless you know someone local who can teach you to fix it, spend the $$$ and buy a known working board.

I laugh ---my bottom--- off at sellers on eBay that claim they have an "untested" board when thy also have tons of working boards listed.

Oh really jerk off? You obviously have a setup to show working boards but you just "forgot" to test your untested board... whatever ripoff artists!

To the original poster, Yotsuya is right, buy a working board.

These guys know. untested = doesn't work. Pac boards can be easy or ridiculously hard.  Start from a working board before you do the 4 in 1 mod. And $150 is too much for a working pacman. I would sell you a known working with the 4 in 1 mod and high score save already done for that price.

$100 shipped for a regular pac-man.  If you're in need of one I can check what I have. I believe that I have one that has been modded to use a single ROM (replaces ROMs on Row 6).  Were you looking for Fast or Normal speed?

I think I also have a 4-1 modded with the High Score Save too.  $145 shipped.

Shipping prices assume you are in the US48.

If you're really into Pac-Man you should look at Mike Doyles 96-1. It installs onto a standard Pac PCB in the same manner.
