Got what I needed and DK project is complete!
-
How deep are your pockets?
-
You will almost certainly be better off buying a DK cab and restoring it than building from scratch. Mikes arcade has almost all of the parts but I believe they are replication not NOS.

^THIS. Exactly this.
You need to just keep your eyes peeled for a $700 to $800 DK on Craigslist. I've found that to be the sweet spot price-wise for a DK. Anything less and you buy a money pit. Anything more and you are overpaying for someone else's restoration.
Buy an $800 machine that just needs a little work and use supplement parts from mikesarcade.com

Oh I am aware of the price. The situation is that I'm going to buy it piece by piece and then build. It'll take me a while but I don't care.
I actually have a line on one for 850. But can't splurge all at once.

It's funny because I was actually thinking about this exact scenario the other day. I asked myself, "How much would it cost to build an entire DK from scratch..piece by piece"
I started off by vising Mikesarcade.com and adding up each part in an Excel spreadsheet. I got half way done and quit. Each part by itself was not expensive. But what I quickly realized is how many parts are actually in a DK machine. The cost quickly eclipsed the price I would ever pay for a used machine on Craigslist.
But it's a fun exercise and I encourage you to do it. Go on mikesarcade.com and start adding it up on a spreadsheet. I think you will be legitimately surprised how fast it all adds up...and that is before shipping cost.
Between the coin door, power supply, pcb, joystick and monitor you are looking at $525 and that is a conservative estimate.
In other words, this situation is called a paradox. The parts are worth more than the whole machine.

Honestly, you're probably better off just putting money aside so you have the 850 to buy the cabinet in one swoop. I know you want a piece one together, but you're going to have parts sitting for literally years until you get everything together. I've seen it before. Hell, I had a 25 inch monitor sitting my game room for two years until I got an HS 5 to put it in.

Well ive got the power supply and monitor sorted. $150 in. I really don't mind spending extra coin. The one I had a line on already sold. I'm going to be making a Donkey Kong Remixed and Deranged cabinet out of this project. So it doesn't have to be minty fresh. Gonna be new artwork and everything. That's why I don't really want to have a perfect dk just to dismantle.
But if you all want to hoard your donkey kong treasures.... I fully understand!!

I have bezel artwork and can also print the side artwork to make a complete set.
-
I truly appreciate that, however I'm going custom art due to this being for the remixed and deranged board set. Thank you for offering!
