The speaker slots look like a Nintendo cab, but I don't remember seeing two speaker Nintendo cabs? It's a Tri-Sports for sale on CL. Arcade Museum shows a different cabinet. Wondering if I can scoop up a hidden gem on the cheap.

EDIT: So, the ad said best offer. I shot the guy a low ball (at least I thought so) of $65.....he said, "SOLD!"

Supposed to pick it up Saturday. Any thoughts? Did I get a good deal?? Not sure what I am going to do with it, I doubt it's worth a restore, but might make a Nintendo cabinet out of it?? Is that blasphemy?

Punch-Out had two speakers.
-
Probably a Punchout or playchoice, dual monitor

You can't deconvert a dual monitor Nintendo cabinet without ending up spending way more than you would pay for a working one that had never been converted, and even if you did you saved nothing because someone, somewhere else parted one out to provide those parts you just used.

Made an offer, see first post

You can't go too wrong on a $65 cab ever. Paige is right though, it would be expensive to put back as a dual monitor Nintendo. Everything is expensive in this hobby though.
-
Will probably leave it as it is for now (meaning the one monitor) Looks like a vertical orientation, so maybe a DK machine?? Maybe a multi DK machine? I'd love a Mike Tyson's Punch-Out though!

Of course, now the guy goes MIA. No returned e-mail when I asked him where abouts he was located.....waiting now. :dunno

+1 for both dmckean and Paige. You would be an absolute hero if you could manage to restore that back to a Punch Out. However, you would probably have to trade a couple years off your life to do it.
Hope you get it for $65. That's totally worth it for the CRT alone.
If it were me, I'd spruce up the cab and make it looks nice. Then mount a 42in TV vertically in it and play vertical classics on it. You could keep some kind of Nintendo theme on it so it keeps it legit. Just don't hack up the cab in the process. I wouldn't feel bad, you didn't convert it in the first place.
Set the CRT aside for another build.*
*I would normally never advocate that a CRT be removed from an arcade machine, but this is one of those exceptions.

When he replied back "SOLD!" he might have meant it's already been sold. :lol

So we are all correct in thinking this was a Punch Out, correct?
Would it be HORRIBLE to use two LCDs instead of CRTs?
I guess my question is this; will I be "shunned" in the community for making this something other than what it was? (Even if I go the Player's Choice route). It appears this cabinet is not really rare, and I have no intentions of hacking up the cabinet at all, but throwing a vertical LCD in there and a PC won't get me thrown out, will it?? LOL

Heh...that's a really good point actually.

That's a good point. I'm wondering too if he used the $65 bid as a starting point and went back to another potential buyer and said, "Well this guy's offering me 65..."

HA! I'm an idiot, you are probably right...... :banghead:
I think by this point I am just going to build something from scratch. I can't find jack squat here in New England unless I want to pay $250 for an empty generic cabinet.
