Post by: Fonkybeachbum on March 03, 2016, 02:20:55 pm
Hello,
Just dicking around trying to get mame going on my macbook.  Would like to use a wii mote for controller and am having a little trouble figuring out how to do that.  Any pointers?  Thanks for any advice.

I don't have a mac but have you tried pairing the WiiMote/Mac with Bluetooth yet?

Try wjoy: http://code.google.com/p/wjoy/ (http://code.google.com/p/wjoy/)

If you don't mind using running MAME inside of a nice GUI, check out OpenEmu (http://openemu.org (http://openemu.org)) -- I think they have a MAME core as part of their "experimental" build. OpenEmu makes controller setup pretty easy, and I think they support the WiiMote (buttons, not IR/motion control stuff) too.

If you really want play MAME or other emulator stuff on your Mac with a gamepad, the PS3 dual shock controllers work out of the box with no additional drivers, and are pretty cheap.
