Title: Is it possible to Power on a Computer with ipac.

  I want to upgrade my computers that i am using in my cabinets. The current computers that i am using i was able to open the computer up and solder wires for an external power that i mount on the cabinet. And two others support "power on" from keyboard in their Bios.
   The new computers that i will be getting do not support "Power On" via keyboard or Mouse and opening them up and soldering wires onto the power button is a high risk task.
   My question is: How to put an external power button  on my cabinet that can power up a computer

I had that dilemma too. How to wire a button to turn on the PC from the cab. Then you would also have to figure out how to power on the cab. You can solve that many ways (master switched power strip, external button, etc) . But I thought, why not just power on the PC when the cab is powered on?

I am powering the PC when I power on the cab. Then when I power off the PC through the front end, confirm that Windows is shut down, I switch off the cab. Then the cycle repeats. I feel this is easier. One less hole to drill in the cab somewhere. I started a thread on it here:

I take no credit for origination of the idea. I stolen the thoughts from others before me. But I am just articulating my actions into one thread is all.

Check if your BIOS supports "Power On After Failure".

Many machines have a on/off service switch. Replace it with a momentary button and wire it to your motherboard.

Two pins on motherboard when closed powers on computer..

Any switch in cab combined with smart power strip and you are good to go

I use a regular Happ button mounted under my cab for a power button. Just connect the two contacts to Power + and Power - on your motherboard. Its the same exact thing a normal PC case power button does.
