Building a bartop got me totally hooked!
So over the weekend i decided to start building my first full size arcade cabinet, taking with me the things i learnt building my bartop.
It will be a street fighter V themed cab with hyperspin as the frontend. Let's get to work.
Fist side panel cut!

I love the way this is looking. Congrats on starting your second build and I will keep an eye on this :)
-
Small update: today i did the speaker holes and the plexiglass holders. Still thinking of a way to mount my monitor since it doesn't have a vesa mount.

This is more of a question for your bartop Sae. Did you use a raspberry pi for your build? I see that you are using what looks to be Emulation Station as a front end. I am trying to get ES to work on Windows. Just wondering if it would just be easier to switch to a Pi setup instead.....

Yes i used a rapberry pi 2 for the bartop. I have no experience in setting it up for windows but on the pi it's really easy. I think you should consider what games you want to play. Nes and snes for example work fine on the pi but the n64 for example does not run well at all.

Cool. I'm interested in seeing how many new SFV builds we're going to get in the next year or so.
Keep up the steady progress!
btw, Akuma isn't in SFV (not that we yet know of ...but Capcom being Capcom, who knows what trolling they're going to do for releasing characters ;) ).

Me too. It would be a shame to not have him in it, I mean, he's a major part of the SF canon.

I can easily say the same about your build. So what's your point?

Didn't get the lightbar right so had to do it over :banghead:

You can still see some light shining trough the edges of the lightbar. Will have to fix this later on. Overall i'm happy with how the glass turned out.

Looking good! It's more a console than an arcade machine. Nice to have the right controllers for all the different systems :applaud:
-
Looks great.
Does it play Street Fighter V? :P ;D

Thank you ;D I guess the video makes it look 'more like a console' but the main focus went to the arcade side. I just like having the option of playing some childhood favourites once in a while.

Very nice indeed :applaud: Love the understated look.
-
Nice clean build. Are you nervous at all with the CP art not being protected?? I already see a bit of bubbling at the front edge. Might be something to consider, but now that it's all together it may be tougher to add laminate. :dunno
I love the style though, and that side art almost looks like it's jumping off the cabinet!

The CP art is laminated (printed it at gameongrafix) it should hold up nice. the bubbling at the edge is my own fault, i dropped the CP on accident. It looks worse in the picture then in real real life though.

Very nice indeed :applaud: 8)

Looks good. You achieved the understated with class. Do you have any pictures of the control panel wired up or the inside of the cab after completion?
Cheers to a well designed, completed build!
-
Are you going to compile MAME to get rid of those Nag screens?

I would like to get rid of the nag screens but have no idea about how to compile mame
-
Mr Do's awesome guide taught me how, and the hiscore/no nag patches are available in the Software forum.

How did you manage to get SFV working? Do you use an Ipac or a controller hack?

For the moment only with the xbox 360 controller, i think they will add support to remap your buttons later on
-
Brilliant job. Clean design, fit for purpose.
Too many cabinets these days go too far, and end up ugly. This one is spot on.
-
Amazing, I love it.
I'm going to attempt my first build soon and was thinking about adding usb slots like this - I'm guessing it's for using controllers and stuff with non 4/8 way joystick games?
Whete did you order them?
-
saejansen, in what material your CPO is printed on? Thx
-
Nice build, how big is the screen?

Many thanks!

Such a clean build! I'm digging the textured matte black on the control panel!
