So i've started my project over here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,148501.0.html (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,148501.0.html)
I'm leaning towards a Bubble Bobble / Street Fighter theme, with perhaps a few other characters in there... initial proof of concept of the mock is here:

or a rough example of one the other options herE:

Plan is to have one side be Bubble Bobble side art (or a combination of 'cuter' characters) and the other Street Fighter (or a combination of fighters)
So... what do people think?!
Thanks!

I voted for "Sweet Fighter" cause it sounded....swwwweeeeet :)
But I think I can come up with something better. Let me think on it...

Rather than doing something half-assed that you are not a 100 percent happy with, just because "it has to have a name !", I'd just ditch the name and do a theme that ties everything together nicely.

+1 - I like this one.

In all seriousness, pick a theme you like and go with that.
-
yea, this is actually a trick question...the real answer is your cab doesn't even need a name.
Like Yots said, you can have a theme but you don't NEED a name.

My generic MAME cabinets both have video game related names. The first is Starfighter, which needs no explanation. The second is called Digital World, and my 7 year old daughter came up with the name of it. It has a space theme.
All those examples are provided where in fun, but they also illustrate a personal peeve of mine in this hobby: Cabinets that don't even have an arcade theme. Yeah I know, haters gonna hate, but come on, be inspired!

But see, that's an awesome game - related pun. It works. Joe's Flashback Machine isn't as inspired.

I'm not sure what you're on about - all of the suggestions i thought up are specifically arcade themed...
I specifically went for games that were in an arcade so as to be arcade themed?!

Nothing against you, friend. I was just having fun when I saw all those other recommendations.

Ah, I see! I want it to be arcade themed as well...

Okay in my book! Good! You are already ahead of the curve!

I love Puns, so if you dont go with Bust-A-HaDouKen or Bust-A-SuperMove , I like Sweet Fighter the bestest.

Don't take advice from gingers.
You should name it something like Mac-Pan, Dig Dog, Konkey Dong, or Galaxy.

Can I ask why the Space Invader is molesting the two BB characters?

Can I ask why the Space Invader is molesting the two BB characters?
Because it's another Taito character... he'll probably come out to be honest...

Good spot. Symbolically, that looks so wrong....

I always suspected that about some of the Space invaders.....

I voted none. If you give it any name that sounds like a game then people who see it will want to play that game, the one that doesn't exist.

If you're going to pick one from the above, I think Capcom vs. Taito should be reversed. Taito vs. Capcom is better. Plus it matches the graphics from left to right. It flows better too having "vs. Capcom" at the end. Plus, the "i" in Taito won't be covering the .vs lettering since it will be on top.
