Hi guys! I have never had the chance to try either Model 2 emu or Supermodel. Can you tell if those emulators will work with a sequiential shifter for the 4 speed shifter games?
Thanks

I don't think they do. They all have automatic trans. modes though so you don't need a shifter to play them.

You have to use a shifter hack but it works. Only problem is if you stay in the same game and start a new race it'll hold its position. So if you ended in 4th gear on previous race it'll still be in 4th gear when you start next race.

What kind of hack is that? What is it called?

Most driving games give you higher top speeds, and higher acceleration, if you choose manual shifting.

Up to my head supermodel actually supports sequential shifting, but my hardware is too low to run SM emu so you should verify

It does. The shifter support in supermodel is done right. I wish MAME and M2 were done the same way.

Mame's a bit trickier because of the fact that it doesn't detect fake keystrokes, but I think it's doable.
If an app was built that allowed some sort of external communication, mamehooker could reset it back to 1st upon loading a game or other events. Probably the easiest way to make sure it goes back to 1st would be to reset the gears any time the start button is pressed. You wouldn't press that while racing but you most likely would press it at least once when going through the menus.
An integrated solution in mame itself is also doable, but it'd be a pain in the butt because the driver for every effected racing game would have to be modified.

FYI, Racermame accepts fake keystrokes.

Well it shouldn't be terribly hard then. It could probably be done via auto hot key. It just needs a counter and the ability to monitor the start button and the shiftup/shiftdown buttons.
I'm still debating on if I'll do an analog h-shifter or not. If I don't I'll write a modified app.

Yes You need a soft like h2seq. You can download it from http://www.racermame.altervista.org/download.htm (http://www.racermame.altervista.org/download.htm)
