Title: UAC issue
Post by: tony.silveira on February 24, 2016, 12:22:03 am
is there any way to add a program so that the UAC doesn't always pop up asking me for permission?  I know i can take the slider in UAC all the way down but i'd rather not do that.

thanks

I turn UAC off on every Windows computer I've ever owned. No issues.

My best guess is that he wants to turn the UAC off for some programs and not for others.

I had this issue trying to run TaitoTypeX titles in Windows 10.  My solution was to simply start running my front end in administrator mode (just check the box in the exe's compatibility properties).  Sure, I  still need to click on that little dialog whenever I start the FE, but after that everything needing elevated rights gets launched without further pestering.

If your Arcade Machine is not connected to the internet (and it shouldn't) and you are the only one installing software on it you might as well disable UAC to not be bothered by it's annoying popups and warnings.

Yes.  I did that once and was instantly struck by lightning.  So I immediately pulled out the plug, re-installed DOS from floppy, and wrapped my machine in sixteen layers of aluminum foil.  I've been happy ever since.
