Title: Wells Gardner K7000 19K7681 Cracked Flyback?
Post by: Djrouge on February 21, 2016, 05:46:50 pm
Hi everyone, my first post on here but I read this forum quite a bit.
I'm new to CRT monitor servicing, I have a fuse blowing situation on my hands, I thought it might be the PTC Component but when I took the screen and chassis out of my cab I found the following:

By the looks of the forums, getting a replacement flyback in the UK is too expensive so I need to know my options.

Any advice welcome,

Kind Regards,

Tony.

Im not sure how much itd be to ship a flyback from the U.S. but I dont think itd be much. I dont see why it couldnt be shipped internationally? Maybe Im misunderstanding your question/problem?

Hit up http://www.therealbobroberts.net/ (http://www.therealbobroberts.net/) and see if he'll ship you a FULL kit for your k7000, flyback & capacitors included (you might as well change out your capacitors too while you have the chassis out). I wouldnt recommend buying from anyone but him on this one.

Hope that helps at least a little...

if i thinks i see what i'm seeing, you aren't going to find a fly back for that chassis. that appears to be the zenith tube flyback and they are like unicorn poo.

i can't confirm or deny without a more zoomed out picture. but if it has a big ol' box attached to the high voltage lead it is indeed the zenith flyback.

see here for more info...

Are you sure your flyback has gone? Are you sure the flyback is the cause of your fuse blowing?
I have not schematics by hand, but if the fuse is the one close to the AC input it's more likely that some power supply circuit component right after it has gone.

Look at the pictures he posted.
The Flyback is clearly cracked and some of the internal isolation epoxy is coming out of that crack indicating it has seriously heated.

At the phone the "cut" looked factory, so i tought it was not an issue.
Anyway, the fuse calls for issues on the primary side of the ps circuit, so probably there's more than the flyback gone

shorted flyback...overloaded regulator or blown diode due to load... blown input fuse.

cracked is sometimes okay...but stuff oozing out means it's been super hot....enough to melt the potting material and have liquid molten plastic come out.\

I'm still going to have to see a wide shot of the board to determine if it's a regular k7000 or the zenith tube "k7000a".... as all different flybacks have been used in the k7000 series including some white, gray, and black ones.
