Title: 5/8" MDF for CP top?
Post by: JudgeRob on February 20, 2016, 07:05:14 pm
So, the idiot at the lumber store loaded me with 5/8 instead of 3/4" MDF.  Anyone think there are issues with using 5/8 for the CP top?  My mockup panel is 3/4, but I could recalculate some things if 5/8 is OK...

I used 5/8 for mine, but I top mounted with carriage bolts, so it worked fine. I also used a piece of 1/8 plexi as well.

5/8" is fine, but plan ahead if you're going to use T-molding and/or a plexi overlay. 5/8" T-molding isn't always available in the same range of colors or barb size as 3/4", and if you combine with plexi you might need to get creative with the offset of the T-molding groove and T-molding size.

Crap, I didn't even think about the t-molding. I'm also not top mounting.  So... back to the store I go.

Thanks for the input guys.  ;D
