Title: GM forced HLSL effects when using specific game ini files
Post by: Elbaid on February 18, 2016, 08:40:42 am
I've just started playing around with HLSL effects on my VA LCD monitor, I'm using specific ini's for some games found online.
For some reason when closing a game that uses HLSL effect, the next game uses the effects too, even though there's no ini file for said game. The only ways to disable the effects are either close GM and reload, making sure to only load games without specific ini's or creating a ini file for every game I want to play and adding only "hlsl_enable               0" to the file.

I hope this makes sense and is it normal behaviour?

Cheers

Generally, you would have a MAME.INI that would work for any game. In addition there are "group" INIs (like Raster, Vector, etc..) and, as you mentioned, game specific INIs. If you ONLY have game specific INI files, then that seems like rather strange behavior. Is it possible you have a MAME.INI that is taking affect for the games without their own INI files?

Yeh I have the standard mame.ini with HLSL disabled. Loading a game without a specific ini uses the mame.ini settings (no effects) unless I I load it straight after a game which uses the shader, in which case the shader still loads with the next game that has no ini. I have to create the ini for every game and simply disable the shader. Not a huge chore, but odd nonetheless
