I say "mouse" cuz I'm actually referring to the rotary1 on my optipac, the horizontal axis of my mouse
In mame it's easy to adjust it for individual games, that's not a problem. I was playing Arkanoid on the NES though, using the spinner, and control was very sluggish.
Should I use the mouse settings in the windows control panel(win98se) or is there a 3rd party utility that speeds things up? Im not at my machine now but I think I have it set at no acceleration, and the speed itself in the middle

Checked my settings
Mouse speed is set to fastest, and there isn't an acceleration option
Still seems kinda chuggy in normal use, ie not mame where I can set the sensitivity

Last time I checked, the NES wasn't analog. I think that might be your problem.

It came with its own Vaus (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3071807297&category=11028) controller, along the lines of atari paddles.
I dunno if it was used on any other games though, and I dont even know WHY I was testing it, when the mame version works perfectly well
Nes controllers were digital
I did find a prog called psrate, or ps2rate, that allows you to change the polling rate. Id come across it before but never saw a need for it heh. If it works Ill be sure to find the link and write it up

The ps2rate prog I found seems to work well.. NES arkanoid and some atari paddle games took a bit of a tweak but they ended up great.
When I went into mame however, the analog control settings(from the tab menu in-game) must be overriding what's being set by ps2rate
Still gonna mess around, see about adding it to the .bat files Im launching each emu with, to make sure that it resets the mouse rate before starting
