Title: Control panel CPO apply over material
Post by: majoly on February 11, 2016, 11:01:55 am
I was planning on ordering from gameongrafix. I would paste the CPO over a 1/8" thick plexi.

Would there be a reason why I should not do that?

If no got a better idea?

what?

you put the CPO on the CP, and if the CPO doesnt have polycarb coating you put plexiglass/persiplex over top of it.

MDF is CP, over my CP I would put plexi, and over my plexi i would put the CPO

The overlay goes on the wood/metal - the plexi goes above it all.   The plexi's purpose is to protect the artwork typically. If you put the overlay on the plexi you're defeating its purpose.

my reason on doing that is for physical limitations.

I need to apply my CPO on a 1/8" thick surface.

And from what Ive been told, game on grafix work wont require me to put a plexi over the CPO.

metal is the best option I guess?

May I ask why the surface needs to be 1/8"?  I'm not following. I don't think the overlay cares about thinkness.

For my CP to be flat with the frame, the surface where I apply the CPO, to sit on all sides has to be 1/8 thick. Anything thicker will make the surface not even with the rest of the frame.

So from all choices I have

Plywood 1/8, plexi 1/8, metal 1/8, is plexi a bad choice or not to apply a CPO over

I suppose you can apply it to the plexi if that's what you like - but if you're cutting holes wood would be easier.  (So long as you have support underneath. That's thin wood.)

Plexi/lexan, typically, is used as a "protector".  But if you have a reason to do it then it's fine - just not the usual way of using it which is why we were a tad confused.
