I have had a space invaders coin door for several years and I have been saving it for my masterpiece cabinet (not the name just a build deserving of it ) This is my 5th build and I have learned a little from my first builds. All of which i used new coin doors
I like to have at least one piece on each cabinet that is from a real cab so the energy is there. I am very superstitious and kind of dig nostalgic things, if I can connect my cab to something old it will absorb its historic energy. No, I am not a hippie.
My Midway coin door is in great shape but the paint was a little messed up with some rust in one corner. So I took a sander to it. HOLY CRAP that paint is on there good and now I am going to have it sandblasted for 20 buck and be done with it.
I want to get that cool pebbled or orange peel look like the new doors. Or just anything that is not flat. My luck with hammered spray paint has been bad in the past.
Any suggestions? :dunno I am open to anything that will look cool.

I use hammered on all my coin doors. Practice with it on scrap metal until you get your technique right.

I've always used hammered and other than the odd drip, always had good results.

In fact, I am going to go paint one right now!

I practiced on wood and it came out smooth. I even primed it as well. :banghead:
I suppose I could give it another shot. Maybe i was too close or too far away or it was too hot or cold out.
We are talking rustolum hammered spray paint right?
