I am trying to decide right now if I am going to mount my 22 inch LCD monitor in my bartop cab using a vesa attached to an MDF board inside of the cab, or just use something like a VESA 100mm template and drill holes through the internal MDF mount, then screw the monitor directly onto the MDF bracket (if that makes any sense.)
Is there any benefit to using an actual VESA mount attached to an MDF bracket rather than doing it the other way? I have seen people do it both ways and of course, it's always good to decrease cost where possible as long as it doesn't downgrade the quality right?
Thanks all..

on all five of my builds I have the monitor strapped in with plumbers tape and half inch thick rubber insulation on the straps. It couldnt move if it wanted to. Plumbers tape is a roll of metal about the width of tape and has holes drilled in it every inch. You have to use the rubber pipe insulation its the black kind. The grey foam kind will let stuff slip.

I just cut 2 grooves at 100mm apart. Then I can use screw that align with the vesa mount (without buying a mount). It also allows for easy adjustments as well. All vesa compatible monitors can be mounted this way. Lmk and I can send some pictures.
Thanks

Interesting method. You went around the left and right sides with it?
