This is the first time I've ever done this so I'd appreciate any help. I'm trying to hook up my Sanwa 29e31s so I can play MAME games from my PC.
You'll see pics of the molex on the monitor chassis and a stripped VGA cable.
The RGB is simple. The wires colors match up on the VGA cable.
The SYNC I'm not sure about. I don't know which color wires from the VGA would be H-SYNC and V-SYNC. Also, there is only one pin location for SYNC. I think I was told at one point I'd need to twist those wires together and put them both in the same SYNC position, is that right?
The GND I'm completely clueless on. Doing a Google search it seems like this might be related to the SYNC in some way?
The DEM I know is related to the degaussing. Are there two wires in the VGA cable for these? I'm not sure what goes here.
The AC and F GND I believe is just the power cord. Match up the white to white and black to black, then the ground to F GND. Side note on this... if my monitor takes 100 - 120 AC, can I just strip a power cord and connect it to the molex, then plug the other end in to a power strip with the PC and plug that power strip into my wall outlet (assuming my wall is 120, which I will check first)?

DEM-demag switch,place a momentary action switch between these two connections

pretty sure this does not require an iso transformer

Thanks for the info! I have very little knowledge on wiring electronics, so please bear with me.

When you say to place a momentary action switch between the two DEM, would this look something like... a wire coming out of each of the DEM positions, and then they're connected together via a switch I can buy? Then whenever the screen needs degaussing I can press the switch (which will essentially connect the two wires) and these will demag/degauss the screen?

Is there any chance anyone knows what color wires each of these are? I was not successful in trying to remove the casing to see where the wires connect to the pins. I ended up ripping the wires out of the pins when I was trying to open it up. So now I'm not sure which color wires I'd need for the GND and SYNC.

for the demag yes
for the vga connection just google vga connector-it tells you the pinouts,you will need a multimeter and remember there will be quite a few ground wires
if i remember later i will take a photo of a european es31 vga connector

Ok got it. Thanks again for the help. So I would need to twist all the video ground wires together and insert them all into the GND on the molex connector?

I was able to get everything hooked up (thanks grantspain). The display is pretty messed up. I've included a link to a video of it scrolling.

One thing to note is there was only one SYNC wire on the chassis. So both the V-SYNC and H-SYNC were twisted together and connected to the one SYNC wire. Was this incorrect?
I've got the PC at 640 by 480 @ 60hz. According to the manual this should be a valid input signal.

I've tried adjusting the knobs for the sync, but it doesn't appear to make any noticeable difference to the scrolling. It might slow it down some, but not much.
It's a brand new monitor and chassis so I wouldn't think there'd be any issues there, but then again I'm brand new to this so that's why I'm asking for your help :dunno

the syncs should be seperate,well they are all my chassis

on your chassis p101 has one single sync wire connected,on mine it has ground, h.sync and v.sync
the issue you have atm is no sync
disconnect the v.sync wire

So when I disconnect the v sync wire... Do I just not use it since there is not other place to connect a sync wire?

I disconnected the v sync and the picture still looks the same. I see what you mean about the p101. I see mine only has 1 wire and others I've seen online have 3 wires. I've also seen some chassis that have a VGA port that is just plug and play, and they have a molex for the power. Mine has a molex for the VGA and the power. I wonder if I should try to make a VGA port somehow?

I think if I knew what the 6 and 7 position on p101 were connected to on the VGA then I could probably make it work. Does that sound like it would be what solves the problem? Why would a chassis not have this on there already? I have a second chassis for this monitor and it's the same way.

Thanks for that. When I have some time after work I'm going to see about moving my Video Ground wire from it's current position and try to wire up the V Sync from the VGA cable. Hopefully that will give me a stable picture that I can adjust.

Ok, I found that the Video Ground is currently going to P913B on the Neck Board. It's in the position numbered 25. It's plugged into the same molex as the RGB.
Should this be ok here? Or should I splice into it and make it also run into the P101?
There is no V Sync wire currently in the P101, so I will try to run the V Sync wire from the VGA directly into the middle slot on P101.
I've never messed around with Molex connectors and their pins.
How would I find out what pin I'd need to fit inside the molex connector on the P101 and the big 4x3 one that all the video and power wires feed into?

yes add a ground
not sure of the molex size,we don't have that connection array in europe-looks like a standard molex to me-almost the same size as pins on the 4 way connectors of cdrom drives
i think that monitor must have been used a very specific game

I hooked up the VSync and ground, but it didn't change the picture. It did make the screen appear to be more dim.
I twisted both sync wires together and then connected that to the one Sync wire coming off the chassis.
Since I'm brand new to this, I didn't realize there were more knobs to adjust the picture. I fiddled with these (pictured below) and got a little better image.

I will say the H Hold knob is really touchy. If I just touched it slightly it would go from one extreme to the other. Possibly something wrong with it? I guess that would explain the horizontal scrolling, but still have the issue with it looking like the refresh rate is off.

is the res 640 x 480?

often when the horizontal frequency is very touchy it means the input signal is not correct
when you boot the pc and access cmos settings is the picture stable?
i have only ever seen one other thing cause this but not on a new chassis,and that is one of the ic goes faulty

Ok, I booted into the cmos settings and it's doing the same thing. I have an extra chassis that does not power on, but maybe I could borrow some parts from it? Do you think I should do that? If so, what parts?

the sync circuit is controlled by BA7078S and the vertical frequency by LA7856
these chassis suffered bad solder joints on various caps all over the circuit
seriously doubt these chassis are new considering the issues you have
