BYOAC is becoming sticky :)
If you want a dedicated forum for help questions I could host it at http://fe.donkeyfly.com.Let me know. I'm going to reorganize the forum soon.

Why not have a FE Dev forum on BYOAC? Seems like it would be a logical place to have one. Sort of keep everything all under one roof. I think that it would be a cool thing to have hear because I think that a lot of the BBS users here would be interested in reading threads on the developement of FE's and perhaps would be able to give input as to how they would like to envision FE's working. The Software forum is pretty much turning into a FE Dev forum nowadays anyways :(
-
that would be up to saint.
-
I think the problem is that most people wouldn't use it...most people like to just ask questions here when they are around.
I still see nearly as many MW questions here as before the MW message board started at MameWorld- I don't like to just shove people over there, although perhaps I should?
-
Well, besides FE software, Mame, and a few other programs, what else is there to discuss?

I like that FE questions are addressed here. I have learned alot about MAMEWAH by reading the questions and answers. For example, I never realized that MAMEWAH had such great filtering until I read about it in here. The software that runs the MAME cab is a vital part of the arcade that you build. I think that its discussion belongs here.
-
Sirp I've gotta agree with the peanut galery here. 90% of the software board is fe related questions. It would die without these threads.
Besides do you think anyone would actually listen and use them instead of this board? A mamewah board was recently setup on mameworld in hopes that it woudl diminish the amount of posts here. They seem to have increased since then. ;)
**edit**
I think the main flood of questions is the fact that people ask really really dumb questions. For example 90% of these "getting mamewha to do xxx" questions are answered in the mamewah docs. But instead of telling people that, other posters simply "give them the fish" and answer the question. RTFM might not be the most polite way to answer a question, but sometimes it really is the most appropriate answer.

HC, you must be losing your bite, Since when are you hesitant to tell someone to shut up and RTFM?

I think some of you guys may be missing the point...
I think SP is talking about a FE Programming forum. If I'm wrong correct me, but a forum for FE Developers wouldn't be a bad idea here. Most of the questions asked in the software forum are FE related, but not FE programming related!
I'll shutup now... :-X

I think SirP was referring to a FE help board actually...a programming/dev board already exists over at fe.donkeyfly.com :)

Yup minwah is right, I was discussing it with sirp last night.
fe.donkeyfly.com is our dev forum, it has been for some time but it's not very public (by design i might add, users aren't always welcome in every forum)
-
Actually, I am fine if users come to the forum. It generates more traffic to view the controls.dat project hence maybe more volunteers :)
I meant if the FE Dev wanted a dedicated board.
I think I will talk to pj and see if he will phpfaq and phpnuke the site and start organizing it for the controls.dat project.
