Hi everyone, I have a question about a marquee. I have an original pac-man marquee which is plexiglass with the artwork painted on the back.
I've been looking for an original Star Wars marquee, and someone has one for sale, but it's not plexiglass, it's translite with some rough edges that may need to be trimmed. Did they make the marquees for that cabinet out of translite back then? I just want to make sure before I buy it.

Star Wars used a wrap-around style marquee. That translite is probably a repro.

Thanks for the quick reply.
The guy said it's translite, but it could be a different material, and he just doesn't know it. The edges do look a little rough and different from the repro translites I saw that had to be trimmed. He swears that it's original from an original cabinet he's owned for years.

Actually, looking at it, it IS original, but ripped from the front of a cab.

Are you sure about that? I just looked at an original Star Wars game locally the other day and it did not have a wrap around marque. This one looks like it could be original, but damaged.

Are you sure about that? I just looked at an original Star Wars game locally the other day and it did not have a wrap around marque. This one looks like it could be original, but damaged.
Trust me, the marquee wraps around a piece of wood and glass. It's not a simple translite, but rather a large sticker that wraps the wood piece and lets light through the glass and hole. What he has there is the art part of that large sticker ripped off from the front of the wood and glass - notice the jagged bottom.
I mean, I HAVE one 30 feet away from me in my gameroom. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.
