Title: POLL: Should we add a GUNS subforum?
Post by: BadMouth on January 07, 2016, 08:14:54 pm
I know Saint just got done re-arranging the subforums, but this topic keeps coming up in the Driving & Racing subforum.

I was about to start writing a gun info thread similar to the driving cab one.
A search of the main forum for "light gun" turns up 500 results.  I assume that's some sort of limit and there are actually more than that.
Honestly I think it would be easier if all these threads were in their own little subforum.  It's probably more content than we started the driving cab subforum with.
Info on original light guns, positional guns, aim-trak, act labs, recoil hacks, etc.
Jollywest got the USB2GUN fully working (with recoil).  Twistedsymphony is starting to work on a Sega Type-II IR setup.
People don't know what's possible if they can't find it.

Not sure what we'd call it.  I like Arcade Guns, but that's a name brand now and it's not a support forum for their product.

Thoughts?

Except it isn't as straight-forward as that.  That's the whole deal.  Getting, let's say, a joystick, to work with emulators is fairly easy, but lightguns is always a weird combination of specialized hardware, software, or both.  It usually takes a lot of fiddling... like the driving rigs, which is why they got their own forum.

It should go in PnR.  Any topic bout GUNS should be behind closed doors.   :police:
