Title: WIN10 on Arcade Monitor
Post by: pmowry on January 05, 2016, 01:16:08 pm
Please forgive another Win10 topic, from what I've read so far it seems to be the way to go from win7 in general.  But I have not come across anything on low resolution monitors like the WG D9800 I have in the cabinet, just about the older 15mhz displays(that seem to say to stay with WinXP).  I'm just using the integrated GPU of my i5 processor.  Is windows 10 any better/worse trying to use the native resolutions of this monitor, or the "out of range" message during the boot animation I can't get rid of in win7?

Thank you,

I tried 7, 8, and 10 with my Kortek 27" arcade monitor, and none of them will sync up.  I think it's the boot up loading image that screws it up.  I'm still using Vista Ultimate x64 for that very reason.

Thanks,
Jason

That's because there was problems with positive sync. Beta 4 should work for You. I'll recommned 7 instead of 8 or 10.

Thanks for the feedback.  I usually go by if its not broke don't fix it, but 10 is still free for now and other threads implied there were performance improvements worth having.  I vaguely remember having to mess with the intel video drivers to get 7 working, but that was several years ago.

I'll leave it alone for know, but if the urge bites me to do it anyway I'll boot up a linux iso and do a simple dd image of my drive so I can do a perfect roll-back.  Then come back and update this thread with the results.

You have a multi sync monitor. In my opinion you are leaving a lot on the table by not running groovy mame with the switchers and crt emu driver combo. It runs pretty Damn well on windows 7. Maybe stick with the last version of you don't want to try the very latest.

I thought GroovyMAME required an ATI video card.  Right now I'm using the onboard Intel video.  I like the beauty of Hyperspin,  But I may go grab a video card and give the linux distro a run via a USB stick..
