Title: 3D games that work on mame
Post by: Goldenjelly on December 27, 2015, 04:49:43 pm
I've noticed some games don't work on mame, for example Daytona, virtua striker, decathlete and sega rally. These are all 3 D type games. Does this basically mean my version of mame simply can never run them? Some try to load and are all slow or messed up. Although tekken works?

You should check out the Demul emulator for all the later Sega stuff you look to be interested in. Same rom files should work.

I'm new to all this, so could I install that emulator and have it running on the same machine I already have? The cabinet I have used to be a sega fighting vipers cabinet, it still uses the original huge monitor no a LCD pic monitor. I had my cabinet refurbished for me as I don't have a clue about any of it really. I'd love to have all those old sega games.

Not knowing what hardware you have makes it hard to predict performance. The newest Demul likes some decent and semi recent hardware on GPU side. Otherwise look for the older .58 version.

The Supermodel emulator (http://www.supermodel3.com/About.html) works with Daytona 2, Virtual Striker 2, and Sega Rally 2. Not exactly what you asked, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
